Mastering Multimedia

Journalism isn’t just about exact, bland presentation of facts. Using creative ways to use camera angles increases the way you can tell a story. I enjoyed Mastering Multimedia’s blog about using your camera creatively. Creating stories that are visually interesting opens up the interpretation of what the role of a journalist is at least in my own mind. Although I’ve been working as a writer for quite some time I’ve had little interest in calling myself a journalist because of my preconceived notion that it would mean I was producing little more than hard facts about ’serious’ topics. Using video or audio to tell stories is by far more interesting to me, and in a world obsessed with contrived reality I can see why journalism is heading that way. Just look at how all consuming reality programming has become.
